The Program

The program at Community Nursery School includes:

  • Opportunities for social development through association with others of varying socio-economic backgrounds, races, religions and capabilities.
  • Sharing, taking turns, considering others, following simple rules and caring for equipment are additional social experiences.
  • Opportunities for developing hand-eye coordination, skills in language, mathematics, and perception are provided. Also offered are traditional activities like art, music, storytelling and blocks, along with dramatic play and science.
  • Opportunities for outdoor play in a large, well-equipped playground.
  • Parent involvement and observation.
  • Nutritious snacks and all natural fruit juices, milk or water.
  • Speech and vision screening for 3, 4 and 5-year-olds at nominal or no cost.
  • Walking trips on the grounds (approximately 8 acre site)
  • Training in healthy eating habits and personal hygiene.
  • Observance of major holidays with experiences suitable for the age group; parent involvement encouraged as family traditions are discussed.
  • Parent conferences in January, and at other times by parental or teacher request.
  • Student assessment reports sent home twice yearly
  • Presentations for parents on topics of interest.
