WE LEARNED SO MUCH THIS WEEK AND HAD FUN TOGETHER!

The children started a unit on Community Helpers.  They learned about different jobs and what these workers need to know and use to do their job.  They enjoyed a visit from Mr. Loretti, a police officer, who told them all about what police officers do.  The children also were taught about fire safety from a visit from local Metuchen fire fighters.  Thank you so much for coming to visit!  The children experienced a STEM activity where they had to build a house using toothpicks and foam pieces.  It was a challenge but they loved seeing their houses finally stand!  The Letter Person, Mr. C, came for a visit and the children enjoyed a science experiment that used ice and water to CURL Mr. C’s CARROT strips.  They were so excited that it worked because it is the only thing Mr. C eats for snack.
This week the children FOUND FOOTPRINTS in our classroom  and discovered Mrs. F sitting on the FLOOR.  She brought many FUN and FABULOUS activities with her that FORCED the children to FIND letters in many different areas of the classroom.  She also had them use many different manipulatives to FORM letters.  The FUNNIEST activity FOR the children was measuring each other using FEET!  All the children agree that the most FANTASTIC activity was FORMING Fs with their own FINGERPRINTS!!!

Making our Colossal Caps was FUN!

Meeting Mr C by the cubbies was a surprise

Building houses and firetrucks was a lot of work and a lot of FUN!

Learning about what firefighters and police officers do was fun and exciting.
