We read “The Cat in the Hat” by Dr. Seuss. The children noticed the rhyming words and we listed the words on the board according to their ending letters such as at, cat, mat, hat, and all, ball, fall, and ish, fish, wish, dish, and an, fan, pan.
In small group, the children sorted through ending letters and formed rhyming word groups from the story. We all read them together. We next matched uppercase letters to lowercase letters with the geoboards and also had a fun letter hunt in the classroom.
