This week in Art Enrichment, we revisited a project we had done earlier in the year. We read a book about Picasso and focused on his abstract works. We noticed that in a lot of his paintings we could still tell the images were people but they didn’t have the features of a real person. We traced our profiles on a sheet of paper and then made an oval around it; the profile line became a centerline of the face. The children drew, eyes, ears, hair other features. They colored their pictures with bold colors. The children were able to understand and execute the concept much easier now than in the beginning of the year.
