The children in the 5 Day Pre-K class had a week filled with MAGNIFICENT fun and learning! The children started the week by meeting Mr. M and learning about all the foods he loves to munch on using his munching mouth. They enjoyed all the “M” activities that were planned for the week. The children also began a unit on outer space by using their imaginations. They “became” astronauts and blasted off for a week filled with wonderful math, fine motor, reading and science activities. I am sure the children will be star gazing at night as well as looking at moon to see if it is full, half, or crescent shaped. We want to thank Mrs. Yu for coming in to our classroom the week before and sharing the traditions of Chinese New Year. Celebrating with her was so much fun!!!!!
Learning about how Mrs. Yu and her family celebrates Chinese New Years was so much fun. The children loved making the year of the dog puppets. Thank you Mrs Yu!
The children loved spending the week with Mr. M. They laced macaroni onto pipe cleaners to create bracelets. They built a house for him and the found pictures in magazines that were safe to “munch” on. The best memory of Mr. M is when one of the students found him under a coat in one of the cubbys!
Our study on outer space kept the children very busy. They used toothpicks to punch holes into the letters of their names. They were excited to see their names in the stars! They created to the moon and made star constellations and even created a new planet using liquid colors!
The children enjoyed the outdoor time this week with all the warm weather we have had!
