The children in the 5 Day Pre-K class started a unit on Clothing. They were given a huge bag of clothes and they had to describe and sort them various ways. They learned about SMALL, MEDIUM, and LARGE and why knowing the size of a piece of clothing is important. The children read a book about washing and drying clothes and they were able to load washing machines after sorting the clothes into lights, colors, and darks. We talked about what you would wear if you went to different places. The children were then given material and cloth and had to dress a paper doll to match where they were going. We can’t have party dresses at the beach!!!! Many girls created beautiful dresses for weddings and dances. They even made high heal shoes for the paper doll to wear! The children also spent the week with our letter person, Mr. Z. They enjoyed many Z activities but I think the most favorite had to be taking a school-wide survey on who was wearing zippers, buttons, snaps and velcro. They kept track by using tally marks. They were so proud of themselves when they asked each class! We all agree that this week was filled with ZAINY fun!!!!!
Community Nursery School fosters the love of learning in children at an early age. The teachers and staff encourage curiosity and creativity in the most nurturing way.
I watched my daughter, who attended CNS from ages 2 1/2-5, blossom in her development both socially and academically. I continue to watch my son who comes home and amazes me everyday with what he is learning/doing/experiencing. I look forward to watching my youngest grow at CNS in the near future.
Not only are the teachers and staff committed to the students, but they super helpful, friendly, and supportive to the parents.
There is no where else I would rather have my children spend their early years. Thank you CNS!
