The children met Ms. P, one of our Letter People. With her visit she turned our housekeeping center into a Pizzeria. The children learned how to take pizza orders, make pizzas, and also use a cash register to have the customers pay for their orders. The children also learned about how pumpkins grow, what we can make from pumpkins and the children also made a pumpkin book to share with their families. They loved experiencing Mrs. P’s favorite kind of art, which is Pointillism. The children used dots to create a painted pumpkin.
Mr. N with his noisy nose came into our room making a lot of noise about nocturnal animals keeping him awake at night! The children learned what this word meant and sorted animals into nocturnal and not nocturnal. The children enjoyed lacing noodles and reading newspapers to find Ns. They also loved the non-fiction unit on spiders and bats. The children were very squeamish with these topics at first but then they realized how important spiders and bats are and they thought they were cool by the end of the week!
