In Art our inspiration was Wassily Kandinsky’s color study with circles in squares. We read The Noisy Paint Box by Barbara Rosenstock and illustrated by Mary Grandpré about Kandinsky’s life and how colors and music were linked in his mind. We also discussed the concept of abstract art.
In Music and Movement we continued introducing the guitar to our Tuesday class friends and we designed our own guitar pictures. We did our favorite sing and dance along songs and we learned a new one called “Slippery Fish”. We practiced rhythm with our rhythm sticks and ended our lesson with a student led parade!
In Cooking we made delicious Apple Fruit rollups. We learned about how important it is to follow the steps in a recipe and used many cooking tools such as a rolling pin, a liquid measuring cup, cooking shears and a spatula. The Fruit Rollups were a hit served warm with vanilla ice cream! YUM
In Adventures in Literacy we practiced rhyming. We read The Cat In The Hat and discussed the rhyming words in the book. We then played rhyming games together.
In STEM Enrichment we learned about why different things sink or float and were able to test out what we thought would happen. We talked about how density plays a very important part in what sinks or floats. There was lots of discussion and fun!
