Our students closed out March with an exciting visit to the FPC food pantry! Each child brought an item to the pantry and learned all about what happens to the donations. We took a tour of the facilities, sorted food into categories, stocked shelves and even checked expiration dates!
We welcomed spring with a study of the letter X and fossils. We made our own dinosaur fossils out of salt dough. We also learned all about bones and used Q-tips to construct the letters and numbers we have learned so far. We also created X-rays of our own body, using only our names, white paint and black paper. This introduced the children to the concept of symmetry!
Finally, Mr. R came to visit and brought with him a study on rain and the colors of the rainbow. We weaved beautiful rainbows with pipe cleaners and did a rainbow sort of upper and lower case letters. We also matched dice with the corresponding numbers and played color bingo. We used a new painting technique with bubble wrap and also did a “raincloud in a jar” experiment. The students found it so interesting to see how the blue liquid raindrops fell from the puffy shaving cream cloud when the raindrops became too heavy….. just like how it happens when it rains outside!
