This week the children continued learning about different animals as part of our ongoing animal unit. This week our focus was on animals that enjoy water, wet areas or rainy weather, such as fish, frogs, toads, turtles, ducks and worms.
The children have been closely observing our caterpillars as they come closer to becoming butterflies. Each caterpillar more than tripled in size and some have begun to form a chrysalis.
The children also learned about spring weather and why we get so much rain during the month of April. They created beautiful “April showers brings May flowers” collages, tracing their names in raindrops and drawing their own flower gardens!
Also this week, the children did an alphabet review, playing matching games with different letters, coloring some of their favorite letters and brainstorming words that have the beginning sounds of those letters.
The children have been learning how to care for animals this week, and have been taking turns being veterinarians in our “animal hospital”
new floor puzzles, our exciting marble run and good friends to share a book with in our classroom library have everyone smiling as always!
