Mrs. Roth’s class had a great week talking about Spring time and learning about safety!

This week the children spent time observing our Catapillars that are now fully in their cocoons waiting to transform into butterflies. Having a Great Time with Mr. G!

We made S’mores Brownies in Cooking Enrichment! Delish!

In Cooking Enrichment we made s’mores brownies aka jazzed up brownies.  We practiced our egg cracking and mixing skills.  We also talked about the many different things you can add to a box brownie mix to make it your own.  Some of the things the chefs talked about adding were vanilla, graham crackers, chocolate chips, marshmallows, and so on. We had fun reading and playing together in Literacy Enrichment.

This week in Literacy Enrichment we read “The Cows Are In The Corn” together pointing to each word with the pointer.  Each student had a turn using the pointer reading left to right pointing to the words as they repeated the story.  The students also did an activity matching the baby animals with the adults.  In Small Group we used voice to print cards

We completed our Earth Day project this week and they came out great!

Last week our artists made their own paper mache bowls using old newspapers and flour/water paste.  Now that they are fully dry, this week in Art Enrichment we completed our Earth Day project by painting the bowls.  They all came out different, very colorful and beautiful! The artists enjoyed painting together and were very creative. They enjoyed using many different colors.  Happy Earth Day

We made PAPER in Science Enrichment

Before making our own paper we went through our class recycling bins and found different types and colors of paper to recycle.  We made a paper pulp using used paper, hot water, a blender, and a mould and deckle.  The students selected the colors they wanted and added a little sparkle to some of them. We had fun with the clouds, rain and rainbows…

We had a fun week talking about the weather, especially clouds, rain and rainbows.  We also did some great crafts.  We always enjoy playing together!  Luckily we were able to go play outside several times this week too.  Hoping Spring comes soon and we can spend even more time playing together outside!  We read Little Cloud by Eric Carle. We had a fun week with Mr. Q and also with learning about farms in preparation for our trip next week!

The children of the 5 day Pre-K class had another fun-filled week.  Mr. Q spent the week with the children.  They searched for q’s in a letter hunt, they made quilts, and Mr. Q helped them make a list of QUESTIONS that the children want to learn about farms.  The children learned why farms are important and they became “farmers” by planting  vegetable seeds.

Mrs. Roth’s class had fun this week with animals, caterpillars, letter sounds and talking about Spring.

This week the children continued learning about different animals as part of our ongoing animal unit. This week our focus was on animals that enjoy water, wet areas or rainy weather, such as fish, frogs, toads, turtles, ducks and worms. Lots of peeling, mixing, folding and mashing in Cooking Enrichment…and of course eating!

In Cooking Enrichment the chefs worked very hard peeling and then mashing potatoes. We then mixed the prepared chopped meat, vegetables and gravy together to make the Meat Pie with the mashed potatoes on top.  While the Meat Pie was cooking in the oven we made our Chocolate Cream Pie.  The recipe is at the bottom of the page.  Everyone tried the Meat Pie
