WE HAD AN AWESOME START OF SCHOOL!

Mrs. McLaughlin’s Class had fun with Mr. X and learning about insects.

Our class spent the week celebrating with our last letter person Mr. X,  “X marks the spot”.  We read some interesting books this week about insects including “Bugs, Bugs, Bugs” , “Bugs A-Z” and “Bugs on Parade“. We had a great Earth Day week enjoying many fun activities and a trip to a farm.

We welcomed Earth Day with Ms. Ee also known as  “Exercise Energy” and made bouquets of flowers to decorate our classroom.  We read a colorful story named “Elmer” and sponge painted the elephant from the story.  We observed our caterpillars form into cocoons.  It will be so exciting to see them turn into butterflies!  Our class trip to the Rutgers Cook Campus Farm was

Happy Spring!

We spent the week with Ms. U “Unusual Umbrella”. On Monday, we read an unusual story called “Zig and the Magic Umbrella” and created a page in the story about what we would if we had magic umbrella…what would our umbrella turn into and where would it take us? Welcome Spring!

It was a colorful week in Mrs. McLaughlin’s class as we welcomed Spring and discovered the colors of the rainbow.  On Monday, we came in and checked our traps and found that the leprechaun left us sweet treats!  We sorted Fruit Loops cereal pieces for our pot of gold projects.  We rolled dice to determine how many gold coins would be in our pots.

We had fun with Mrs. Y and also preparing for Saint Patrick’s Day!

We spent the week learning some wonderful nursery rhymes and retelling them as we played and created fantastic artwork.  We also met Mrs. Y “Yodeling Yawn” and discovered words that began and ended with “Y” including children whose names end with “Y”.  We searched for lucky coins as we played coin flipping games.  We had so much fun creating tricky traps in the hopes

We had fun with Dr. Seuss

This week we focused on the letter Z and did many Z activities.  It was also Dr. Seuss week.  We read several Dr. Seuss books and really had fun with “Put Me In The Zoo“.  We played a musical Zoo (chairs) game with the zoo animals everyone brought in.  We enjoyed “Oh, The Places You’ll Go” and we each made our own hot air

We enjoyed preparing for Valentine’s Day and also Meeting Mr. C!

We began the week on a creative note by making Valentine’s day cards and mailing them to our families.  We met Mr. C “Colossal Cap” and explored counting candy hearts and uncovered letters in our sandbox. We a fun week with Mr. Nn and also counting down the days until the holiday!

We had a fun week as we learned about Mr. Nn “Noisy Nose” and made noisy noses from styrofoam cups.  Mr. Nn also brought Noodles and we created Noodle Necklaces for Valentine’s Day.  We discussed numbers 1-10 and created #lines during small group and we played counting games.  We sang Valentine’s Day songs and have been counting down the days until the holiday!


We had a great time with Mr. O this week and doing many fun activities together.

Mr. Oo Opposite visited our class.  We made “opposite” faces (happy/sad) on paper plates and used yarn for hair.  We hung them in our classroom, hanging the boys on one side of the room and the girls on the “opposite” side of the room.  Another “opposite” project we did was identifying and sorting pictures of what we see during the day and at night.
